((Song is "Into the Night" by Santana.))
Her tail ran along Vastflame's flank and she grinned recklessly. It was over and done with. They had already gone as far from acceptable as it was possible to go. What did it matter what they did next?

It was easy to tell
It was love from above that could save me from hell
She had fire in her soul
The first few rays of morning sunlight found their way into Vastflame's den, dappling the soft mossy floor and leaving shafts of golden light in their wake. A snowy white she-cat was curled up next to a ginger-colored tom; both were sleeping soundly. The sun crept along the horizon until one of the beams of light fell on the she-cat's face. She stirred and slowly opened her eyes, revealing two icy blue orbs. They looked over to her companion, admiring the den's irregular lighting on his flawless pelt. Her eyes then rested on the tom's face. She knew that behind his closed lids was a set of gorgeous eyes; just the memory of what they looked like was enough to melt her heart.
It was easy to see
How the devil himself could be pulled out of me
There were drums in the air as she started to dance
Every soul in the room keeping time with their hands
Ivoryfeather took a deep breath of the morning air and found that instead of being crisp, as it usually was when she first awoke, it was heavy with a warm, milky scent that seemed to be as much a part of her as her surroundings. The memory of the night before brought a smile to her maw. It had been amazing; even better than she had imagined. Not that she had ever spent much time imagining what it was like. There really was no point in wondering about something she couldn't have. And we sang a-oh-a-oh-a-oh-a
And the voices rang like the angles sang
singing a-oh-a-oh-a-oh-a
And we danced on into the night
Ah, but she'd just had it, hadn't she? She had flat out broken the Warrior Code, but for once she couldn't find the will power to make herself feel guilty. It was horrible to keep such a wonderful experience from someone. At that moment the idea of medicine cats not being able to have mates seemed almost criminal to her. They hadn't hurt anything, had they? Vastflame could go on leading the Clan as usual, and she, Ivoryfeather, could continue to be the best medicine cat she could. What was wrong with enjoying life to its fullest extent? It wasn't as if Clan life didn't already have enough hardship in it. Why add more?Like a piece to the puzzle that falls into place
You could tell how we felt from the look on our faces
We was spinning in circles with the moon in our eyes
No room left to move in between you and I
We forgot where we were and we lost track of time
And we sang to the wind as we danced through the night
Still smiling, the she-cat pressed her head into the small space between Vastflame's head and the paws it rested on. Purring contentedly, she muttered, "Rise and shine." Ivoryfeather then lifted her head and looked at her... Leader? Friend? Did this make them mates? They obviously couldn't be official mates. Even if their own Clan eventually accepted it, the other Clans certainly wouldn't, and it would make StreamClan lose status. All because of some stupid old-fashioned rule, she thought bitterly. Never before had she realized the extreme illogicality of some of the rules laid out in the Warrior Code. Several of them had already been broken by various Clans. Maybe it's better that way, she mused. And we sang a-oh-a-oh-a-oh-a
And the voices rang like the angels sing
Singing a-oh-a-oh-a-oh-a
And we danced on into the night
But the mood from the night before persisted, and Ivoryfeather found that she couldn't dwell on her rebellion against the Warrior Code for long. It was strange; normally she had no trouble focusing on things unless she happened to come across a herb that distracted her. No dumb herbs here, she thought happily. Her power, gift, curse, or whatever you wanted to call it wouldn't be bothering her that day. At that moment in time there was only one thing she wanted to focus on.Like a gift from the heavens
